Perp Order Types
Every perp order you place through Hypercall becomes a native Hyperliquid order. The types below map one to one onto Hyperliquid's own. The order form has three tabs: Market, Limit and Pro. Everything under Pro, and TP/SL brackets, needs the TEE execution route, which is the app default. The smart contract route supports limit and market orders only.
Two rules apply to every type:
- Minimum size. Hyperliquid requires each order to be worth at least **10.
- Open orders count as filled. For margin, every resting or triggered order is charged as if it fills. See leverage and margin.
Market
A market order is sent as an IOC limit order priced 20% through the reference price (the best ask when buying, the best bid when selling). It fills against the book immediately up to that bound. Whatever does not fill is cancelled.
The 20% band is a hard ceiling so the order is always marketable, not the slippage you should expect. On a liquid market you fill near the top of book. The order summary shows the cap as Slippage: Max 20%. There is no confirmation dialog: the order is sent when you press the button.
Limit
A limit order rests at your price or better. Choose a time in force:
| TIF | Behavior |
|---|---|
| GTC (good till cancelled) | Rests on the book until it fills or you cancel it. |
| IOC (immediate or cancel) | Fills what it can right away; the rest is cancelled. |
| ALO (add liquidity only) | Post-only. Hyperliquid cancels it if it would take liquidity. Margined like a resting GTC order. |
Pro orders
Stop and take-profit
Trigger orders sit off the book until Hyperliquid's mark price reaches your trigger price, then place an order.
| Type | When it triggers | What it places |
|---|---|---|
| Stop Market | Mark moves against you to the trigger | Market order |
| Stop Limit | Mark moves against you to the trigger | Limit order at your limit price |
| Take Profit Market | Mark moves in your favor to the trigger | Market order |
| Take Profit Limit | Mark moves in your favor to the trigger | Limit order at your limit price |
If the mark is already past your trigger, the form warns you that the order would fire immediately.
TP/SL brackets
Tick TP / SL on an entry order to attach a take profit, a stop loss, or both. They activate once the entry fills and close the position with a reduce-only market order. The form shows the dollar PnL and ROE at each price. The take profit must be above entry for a long and below it for a short.
The entry and its TP/SL go to Hyperliquid together as one grouped order.
Scale
A scale order splits a total size into a ladder of limit orders spaced evenly between a start price and an end price.
- Total orders: 2 to 100. Default 10.
- Size skew: size of the last order divided by the size of the first. 1 splits evenly. Up to 100.
- Each order must be worth at least $10 and uses the time in force you select.
Reduce only
Reduce only works on any type. The order can only shrink your position; it cannot grow it or flip it to the other side. With reduce only on, the form's max size is your position size. A reduce-only order larger than your position is refused with reduce_only_exceeds_position.
Closing from the positions table. The Close button on a perp position loads the order form as a Market order on the opposite side, with Reduce only on and the size set to your full position. Review it and press the button to send.
Modify
A resting order on the TEE route can be modified in place: change its price or size and it keeps its client order ID, instead of being cancelled and placed again. Over the API, batch modify changes up to 50 resting orders in one signed request and reports each result separately.
Not yet available
- TWAP. The TEE route refuses TWAP orders with
unsupported_action. Hyperliquid's TWAP action has no field for a builder address, and every order on the TEE route must carry one, so TWAP needs a different route.
Not supported
- Schedule cancel (dead-man switch). Not in the app. Hyperliquid only allows it on accounts with at least $1,000,000 of traded volume, so the control is hidden instead of shown as an option that fails for most accounts.
